Modoc Lane was founded over a decade ago with a purpose: to preserve and breathe new life into the historic homes of Cape Charles, Virginia. What began as a commitment to rescuing structures on the verge of collapse has evolved into a thoughtful practice of restoration, design, and craftsmanship. Each home we touch carries its own legacy—revealed through intentional, respectful design and carefully integrated modern comforts.

As Cape Charles has flourished and many of its historic homes have been restored, our work has naturally expanded. We now craft new homes that echo the timeless beauty of the past while embodying the efficiency, resilience, and sophistication of contemporary construction.

Our firm is led by a professor of construction management—an expert in innovation and building techniques—and his partner, an artist and designer with a passion for form and function. Together, we bring a unique balance of technical expertise and creative vision to every project, from preserving century-old residences to exploring emerging technologies like 3D-printed housing.
